The 10 weeks I have bin here, have bin special!

I would recommend Daktari to everyone who want to make a difference in the life of children and who are looking to work with animals as well. When you stay here for a long time you will become part of a family that takes care off each other. I believe and love what they are doing. Volunteering at Daktari has bin one of the best decisions I ever took.

See you soon Daktari!

Great cultural experience

I would recommend this program to everyone who wants to work with kids and make a difference in their life. You have a great opportunity to learn more about the culture and the traditions of the local communities. These kids are very underprivileged, and therefore, your lessons will have a great impact in their life. You will also take care of injured and/or hand raised animals that cannot be released into the wild. FYI : most volunteers are between 18 and 30 years old.

It is my second time at Daktari. I went first 7 years ago. When I talked about my experience, I coudn t know if it had been a dream or not, so I decided to come back.
The daily life here is just so amazing. Humans, squirrels, antilopes, dogs freely share the camp.
Teaching to the children makes us understand so much about our lives...
This is kind of holidays we will never forget.

As soon as I saw this post about Daktari on Instagram, I knew my volunteer work in South Africa was meant to be here - and I'm still here writing this review. To cut a long story short, I was about 5 years old and my favorite tv show was Daktari. The thing I loved the most about the American family drama series was the people taking care of the injured animals, their interection with them and the alluring settings of Africa. Then I read about the co-founders of Daktari and fell in love their mission and passion. Being here is a dream come true for me. I'm surrounded by the bushes, wild animals, the rescued and orphaned ones that are now enjoying a pampered second life chance. Moreover, we have the kids coming over to spend the week here learning about their beautiful and unique nature, while being in touch with the dogs, meerkats, mongooses, donkey, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs ... I thought I was coming here to make a different in those kids lives, but by the end of my first week here I realised that I was the one learning so much with them. Children are the future of this beautiful planet. Education is the key. I'm a believer. They will protect the wildlife, the forests and will save Mother Nature. Daktari will forever be my Soul Sanctuary coz I found myself here. Grateful heart

This experience was my first time for me in South Africa and the first time volonteering. It was a great and amazing experience, I stayed for 6 weeks.

During my time in Daktari, I spent time with children (teaching, playing, socials talks...) and with animals (take care of them, feeding, cleaning, improve the enclosure...). I worked with a wonderful team, since the beginning until the end, all the staff is available if you need anything. You can also leave for excursion during the week-end to discover the country. Accommodations are really comfortables and meals are delicious. You will also live with other volonteers from all over the world. It was for me the best experience I have ever lived.

I really advise you to come to discover this magical place.
