Meet the team of the people that give their everything every single day to make DAKTARI the best it can be.
Our team consists of both paid local staff and international volunteers that devote 6 or more months of their life to our cause.

Co-Founders
Ian and Michèle met at Tshukudu Lodge many years ago and fell in love. After getting married, they created DAKTARI in 2006. Michèle’s favourite animal is a dassie and Ian’s an elephant.
Director
Camilla, 28 years old, holds the position of Director at DAKTARI. She ensures the smooth operation of everything related to DAKTARI, including the well-being of animals and volunteers. Her favourite animal is horse.
Sales & Bookings Manager
Pretty is 34 years old and comes from Turkey Zone 1, South Africa. She has been at DAKTARI since November 2016 and her favourite animal is a porcupine.
Office Manager
Patience is 31 years old. She comes from Turkey zone 1 and has been working at DAKTARI since 2019. Her favourite animal is lion.
Education Program Coordinators
Hi, we’re Mapula and Chantel! We’re here to ensure everything runs smoothly for the volunteers at camp and to make your experience at DAKTARI the best it can be.
Camp maintenance Manager
Lucky is 43 years old and lives in Enable. His favourite animal is a elephant. His passion is to carve wooden animals.
Housekeeping
Nakedi is 26 years old and lives in Turkey Zone 1. He started working at DAKTARI in May 2021, under the Yes4youth programme for 12 months. and his favourite animal is a cheetah.
Animal Care Manager
Jack is 20 years old and comes from the UK.
His favourite animal is the african wild dog!
Outreach Manager
Francesca is 24 and comes from Italy. She manages the relationships with the community and also the ECO Club.
Project Manager
Karl is 23 years old and comes from India. He came to South Africa a year ago with the intention of helping its people in any way he could. He thinks that South Africans are some of the most incredible people he has ever met, and his goal here at DAKTARI is to fulfil that intention with the best of his efforts.
Marketing Manager
Sara is 25 years old and comes from France. She has been coming to Daktari for a few years and has decided to take the leap as Marketing Manager. Her favorite animals are elephant and wild dog.
Fundraising Manager
Felicia is 34 and from Sweden. This is her second time volunteering at DAKTARI!.
She likes trail running in the bush, and her favorite animal is the adorable creature, Dassie!
